Chicago

The Loyola University Chicago Ramblers are headed back to the NCAA tournament!

Their 2018 run had all Chicagoans (except maybe DePaul MBB fans) cheering on the team. It was their what outsiders thought was a cinderella run, however for fans we knew this team was something special.

This 2021 entry into the NCAA Tournament has a bit of a different feel, we are highly ranked on both NCAA NET and KenPom tools and we have been AP25 ranked for the past few weeks (currently sitting at #18). In 2018, we received no such accolades, other than a end of NCAA tournament ranking of 7th in the nation.

No matter what happens, I’m super proud of this squad and am very proud of being an Alum, fan and season ticket holder. Go ‘Blers!

Yeti store opens in Wicker Park

Yeti, the maker of high end coolers, food storage and travel mugs and tumblers, opened up recently near the corners, across from the Damen L stop. For people unfamiliar, the store takes the place of the beloved Double Door bar and venue. Many a band up and coming and a name or two you might have heard of have played here. While locals have mourned the closure (the Double Door had a long running dispute with their landlord) I don’t have a particular problem with Yeti…other than the fact I can’t see myself spending $350+ on a decent sized Yeti cooler, others in the hood I’m sure will. Bottom line, it’s the sign of the times and the neighborhood moves on

Goodbye Joe

I’m a huge Joe Maddon fan. He’s a huge reason why the Cubs have a World Series title, 4 out of 5 appearances in the post season and just championship expectations from a team whose stadium was previously thought of as the largest beer garden in Chicago. I’ll always be thankful for his leadership, his coaching style and of course the aforementioned World Series title. Goodbye Joe, you’re a legend who won’t be forgotten.
